God friggin damn this is a huge step up from Volume 1. It's about double the size of volume one, and doesn't bother attempting to re-summarize that volume's topics, so if you're looking for detailed descriptions of Thedas' lands, religions, etc, its best to grab Vol. 01 instead.. This book delves into everything from DA:O to DA:I, and all the wonderful DLC's in between. It has extra stories, cooking recipes (in case you were wondering about Starkhaven's delightful fish stew) and even a children's tales portion! (I especially enjoyed The WitchWood). The book goes over companions as well, and has incredible artwork. Some of the art isn't exactly like the game (e.g. the drawing of Fenris--I've included it in my pictures below), so I'm guessing that it was either specifically designed for the book or it was some sort of first draft concept. Either way, the illustrations are gorgeous. Couple that with all the lore and the tremendous amount of information, and you've got yourself a solid week of reading material. Personally, I don't think it'll be worth getting this on Kindle. The amount of detail they put into each page is unreal, and would be a waste on a tablet or cellphone.

This is an awesome book for Dragon Age fans, with tons of interesting lore tid bits, art, and stories to enjoy. I had to pick it up if only for the Canticle of Shartan oft mentioned in game but only available to read here. It's quite large and impressive tome. It includes a character index, to make it easy to find what you're looking for. The pages are thick and glossy with lovely illustrations.I do warn you that the copy I received direct from Amazon had bent corners on the cover. The box was in fine shape when it arrived. I don't know if too much pressure was placed on it when it was shrink wrapped it or if they are stored improperly at the warehouse. I considered initiating an exchange, but I didn't want to risk this one getting lost in the mail and having to pay for two. If you aren't overly persnickety about the condition of your books then it's no big deal.

There is a ton of information in the book. From the history of the Chantry and nations to the Chant of Light, a cook book, children's stories, and new info about the people around our player characters.Perhaps my favorite part of the book was the Chant of Light. The style it is written in makes it feel very much like a real world religious text, and it gives some insight into Andrastianism. On top of that, there are some interesting looks into the backstory of Thedas, mostly from the Canticles that the Chantry struck from the Chant. The Canticle of Silence is perhaps the most intriguing of these.Another of the best sections is the one on Legends of Thedas. There is information here that can't be found anywhere else, and that gives a different perspective on some of them, such as Maferath. The sections on the Hero of Ferelden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor mostly contain info we already know, but there is a lot of insight into the companions before the player characters met them. And best of all, the text doesn't mention specific actions in the games, leaving plenty of room for your canon. The section of children's stories is charming, though a handful are more unsettling than anything. Not much different than some real world children's stories. The cook book is neat, though I'm not sure I would ever use most of the recipes. Nevertheless, it gives some insight into the cultures who make these dishes. Finally comes the bestiary. It contains concept art and information on most, though not all, of the creatures in Inquisition. I think the best part is info on the individual subtypes of dragons, who we don't know a lot about in the game. The art in this book is stunning. From locations to characters, you can tell that a lot of work was put into this book. Do note, whoever, that there's a lot of concept art, so things don't always look like their in-game depictions. The size of the book is both good and bad. It's great that they managed to fit so much into the book, but it does make it rather large and heavy. One of the developers joked over Twitter that it could be used as a bludgeon, and he wasn't kidding. However, I think a hard copy is still the best, as you get to see the contents in all their glory. There wasn't much I disliked about the book, aside from its massive size. I did see a handful of spelling errors, though they were confined to very minor character names, who weren't in the games, and might reflect the names of those characters in earlier stages.Overall, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about Thedas.

While I enjoyed Vol. 1 of "The World of Thedas," volume 2 was absolutely amazing. There's so much lore packed into the one book and I couldn't put it down once I picked it up. The writers explain some of the stories, tales, and historical figures mentioned throughout the Dragon Age universe, including characters from the novels, and even gives a full background on the Chantry and the Andrastian religion that has become a big part of the DA games/books.If you're even remotely interested in reading up on the lore of Dragon Age, I would definitely pay for this! It's full of interesting tidbits and is definitely helpful if you haven't read all of the novels, giving insight to some of the going ons of the universe outside of the games, including characters referenced in The Last Flight, The Masked Empire, and The Calling.

Serves as an internal lore guide - It includes key historical figures, recounting of the main points in Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, and Inquisition, recipes from inside the world written by familiar characters, and the entire Andrastian Chant of Light. If you're dying for more Dragon Age waiting for a follow up to Inquisition, this is a great way to bide your time and brush up on some of the finer lore.
